Our History
Our wonderful church pastor (Pst. John), was previously serving in Parklands Baptist Church as an usher. Later on, he would go to start this church as the Lord led him.
While traversing Waiyaki Way Road on various routes to Nairobi town, he would notice many children percolating at Waruku's Sai Baba centre. This made him ponder why these children would occassionaly go to Sai Baba.
At this point he decided to investigate the matter. So on one day in which the children were going there, he joined them. On getting in, what he saw there, burdened his heart.
Many children were being arranged in a line, so that they would get food donations from the Indian community. Hindu statues of various gods stood at the front, where food was being distributed.
It then became clear that Sai baba centre, was another Hindu temple. Now, what made matters heavy in the pastor's heart, was how children were begging and crying and doing whatever they were told, so that they could receive something.
Pastor John knew that his visit that day, would change the course of his life. As he was on a trail of many thoughts concerning the spiritual needs of those children, he was suddenly called up by a Hindu servant. He was asked to help arrange and organize the many children. For they were hungry but yet rowdy too.
Now this came as an encouragement for him. For he saw it as an opportunity. So he accepted to assist the Hindus in managing the children and giving them food. This gave him more leeway to work with both the needy children and their Hindu sponsors.
After this first day of volunteering to manage children, he soon became a more frequent servant there. The Hindus in the temple didnot find him troublesome. So they decided to incorporate him as part of their team.
But later on, he looked for an open space near Sai Baba whereby he could gather those children and teach them God's Word. After determined searching, he found a nice place next to Chak guest house. That is where he liased with the caretaker of the place and discussed of his desire to start a church there.
Amazingly, the caretaker agreed without objection, and Pastor John knew that this was God's desire for him in that area. He began by buying snacks (i.e., juice and mandazi) for the children and then teaching them about Jesus in the Bible.
His first core lesson was about the Ten Commandments as given by Moses in Exodus 20:1-17. He purchased a nice print-out photo of the Ten Commandments. And taught the children from it. Fast forward to currently, he has managed to add up to godly servants who assist him in doing the work of God there.
The church initially began through children, but it has now grown to include adults, and mainly men.
This is the initial teaching aid for the ten commandments
